The roles
| Role | What it does |
|---|---|
| Founder | Builds it and steers it. Development, tech support, the custom mods, the lore, and the call on where the server goes next. |
| Head Admin | Leads the staff team and keeps the season on its feet. Final say on a ruling when an Admin needs one. |
| Admin | Rulings, appeals, and the calls nobody below them should have to make alone. |
| Moderator | Tickets, reports and the daily work of keeping the county civil. |
| Trial Moderator | Learning the handbook with a real reviewer and a real review date. |
What each rank can actually do
Worth knowing if you ever end up on the wrong side of a decision. A trainee cannot ban you, and an appeal is never decided by the person who is learning.
| 🌱 Trial Moderator | learning. Can tidy messages and work cases, but cannot decide anything final. |
| 🛡️ Moderator | the first rank that DECIDES: approves and denies applications, and can kick. |
| ⚔️ Admin | the first rank that REMOVES people permanently (ban/unban) and overrides other staff's claims. Also opens and closes applications. |
| 🛠️ Head Admin | the first rank that shapes the SERVER: assigns roles, creates channels, reads the audit log, pings @everyone, and catches every SLA breach. |
| 👑 Founder | everything. |
Appeals are decided by Admin and up. Other staff can read an appeal but cannot rule on it, and nobody rules on a situation they were part of. Every ban is appealed at the ZedOnline Appeals server, and the bot sends you that invite the moment a ban lands.
What the job is actually like
This place is built so that running it does not eat the people who run it. Worth being straightforward about what that means.
- Contribute to one event a month, in any role. Hosting is not everybody's strength and nobody is scored as though it is.
- Take tickets, be able to be non-biased, good people skills.
- Hand over any situation you were personally involved in.
- No public staff leaderboard. Nobody is ranked against anybody else.
- No expectation of being available at 3am. If you are, thank you, just don't burn out.
- No unwritten rules. Everything staff enforce is in a handbook you get on day one.
Interested in joining the team?
Open a ticket in the Discord and say so. We would rather talk to somebody who has been around a while and knows the place, so playing here first is the usual route.
Already staff?
The handbook, the queues, the player lookup and the numbers all live in the staff hub.
